Bulletin

At Bethel Covenant, we have embraced the mission of being the Light to the Delta.

The staff and leadership at BECC can do that by ...

*connecting you to others for fellowship,
*informing you of opportunities to learn and serve, and
*encouraging each other in our walks with the Lord.

Call to Worship

Call to worship 9-20-20

Pastor: Come, believers and faithful ones, sing your alleluias to God!

Congregation: Praise God, who fills us with the Holy Spirit as in a rush of almighty wind and filling us with fire;

Pastor: Who out of love for us sent Jesus Christ to live among us.

Congregation: Praise God, whose Spirit is poured out upon all flesh so our sons and daughters might prophesy.

Pastor: God reaches into our lives and claims us, calling us honored and loved.

Congregation: We are God’s people: We are redeemed, for God has called us by name.

Pastor: Come, Holy Spirit, and find us in our wilderness.

Congregation: Lead us forth into the wonders of your love.

Lyrics to Songs

Here I am, Lord

Verse 1

I, the Lord of sea and sky
I have heard my people cry
All who dwell in dark and sin
My hand will save

I who made the stars of night
I will make their darkness bright
Who will bear my light to them?
Whom shall I send?

Chorus

Here I am, Lord
Is it I, Lord?
I have heard You calling in the night
I will go, Lord
If You lead me
I will hold Your people in my heart

Verse 2

I, the Lord of snow and rain
I have borne my people’s pain
I have wept for love of them
They turn away

I will break their hearts of stone
Give them hearts for love alone
Who will speak my word to them
Whom shall I send?

Verse 3

I, the Lord of wind and flame
I will tend the poor and lame
I will set a feast for them
My hand will save

Finest bread I will provide
‘Til their hearts be satisfied
I will give my life to them
Whom shall I send?

Create in me a Clean Heart

Chorus 1

Create in me a clean heart
And renew a steadfast spirit in me
Create in me a clean heart
And renew a steadfast spirit in me

Verse 1

Cast me not from Your presence
Or take Your Holy Spirit from me
Restore to me the joy of salvation
And give me a willing spirit
Give me a willing spirit
Give me a willing spirit O God

Holy Holy Holy

Verse 1

Holy holy holy
Lord God Almighty
Early in the morning
Our song shall rise to Thee
Holy holy holy
Merciful and mighty
God in three persons
Blessed Trinity

Verse 2

Holy holy holy
All the saints adore Thee
Casting down their golden crowns
Around the glassy sea
Cherubim and seraphim
Falling down before Thee
Which wert and art
And evermore shalt be

Verse 3

Holy holy holy
Though the darkness hide Thee
Though the eye of sinful man
Thy glory may not see
Only Thou art holy
There is none beside Thee
Perfect in power
In love and purity

Verse 4

Holy holy holy
Lord God Almighty
All Thy works shall praise Thy name
In earth and sky and sea
Holy holy holy
Merciful and mighty
God in three persons
Blessed Trinity

Behold the Lamb of God

[Verse 1]
I’ve heard of You, how You hung the stars
Though You hold all things, Your hands are scarred
I’ve heard of You, how You laid the earth
But You spilled Your blood into this dirt

[Pre-Chorus]
I’ve heard so many things, but now I see

[Chorus]
Behold the Lamb Of God
Who takes away our sin
Behold the Lamb Of God
Now fix your eyes on Him

[Verse 2]
I’ve heard of You, how You set forth time
But You walked with us, You lived and died
I’ve heard of You, how You sent a flood
But You washed us clean, with Your own blood

[Pre-Chorus]
I’ve heard so many things, but now I see

[Chorus]
Behold the Lamb Of God
Who takes away our sin
Behold the Lamb Of God
Now fix your eyes on Him

[Bridge]
The God who’s over us, He is here now with us
The God who reigns above, He is the God who loves
The God who is our judge, is He who pleads for us
The God who who gave us life
He is the God who died
He is the God who died

[Chorus]
Behold the Lamb Of God
Who takes away our sin
Behold the Lamb Of God
Now fix your eyes on Him

[Outro]
I’ve heard of You, how You made the earth
But You drug Your Cross through this dirt

Breathe on Me Breath of God

Verse 1

Breathe on me breath of God
Fill me with life anew
That I may love what Thou dost love
And do what Thou wouldst do

Verse 2

Breathe on me breath of God
Until my heart is pure
Until with Thee I will one will
To do and to endure

Verse 3

Breathe on me breath of God
Till I am wholly Thine
Till all this earthly part of me
Glows with Thy fire divine

Verse 4

Breathe on me breath of God
So shall I never die
But live with Thee the perfect life
Of Thine eternity

Sermon Notes

Pastor Adam’s Sermon Notes for the 8:30 Service:

Job 42 Sermon Notes

9-20-2020

  1. Forgiveness begins with deciding which H_____  you will D_____  on.

“Being right” often is a stumbling block to forgiveness.  Seeking forgiveness requires H_____ .

REFLECT: Can you think of a time where you were absolutely certain you were right and fought to prove it?  Could there have been another way to handle the situation?  How does God want you to pick up your cross and follow Him to the hill of Calvary?

  1. Forgiveness has the ability to F_____  the C_____ .

Forgiveness from God requires our own R_____ .  Repentance is not confession, repentance is not guilt, repentance is an active move to turn away from sin.

However, in order for us to forgive, repentance from our offenders (or even remorse!) is N_____  required to forgive.

When we forgive others, we experience freedom ourselves and encourage freedom for our offenders.

Allowing continued abuse is not forgiveness, it is E_____ .

REFLECT: Are there any areas of sin in your life that you feel captive to?  What would repentance look like for you?  Who in your life do you need to forgive in order to experience forgiveness?

  1. Forgiveness seeks to restore R_____ .

Rather than perpetuating “cancel culture,” Christians should be promoting “F______ C_____ .”  When we do, that’s when we experience true blessings.

REFLECT: Have you ever experienced a restored relationship due to forgiveness?  If any relationships that need to be restored come to mind, commit to spend time this week in prayer for which next steps to take.  Consider fasting, journaling, or even talking to a Pastor/Counselor about how to move forward.
