Bulletin

At Bethel Covenant, we have embraced the mission of being the Light to the Delta.

The staff and leadership at BECC can do that by ...

*connecting you to others for fellowship,
*informing you of opportunities to learn and serve, and
*encouraging each other in our walks with the Lord.

11 AM Call to Worship

We give thanks to You, God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ!

In our union with Christ You have blessed us by giving us every spiritual blessing in the heavenly world.

Even before the world was made, You had already chosen us to be Yours through Christ, so that we would be holy and without fault before You.

We praise You for Your glorious grace, for the free gift You gave us in Your dear Son!

Lord Jesus, we come before You in humble confession. Help us conform our lives to You as the model for holy and righteous living.

Forgive us for our desire for personal greatness, for out attempts to make gods of ourselves, for our willingness to exalt ourselves at the expense of others, and for our resistance to serving one another as You have served us.

Forgive us for making light of Your obedience and sacrifice on the cross by living an undisciplined and indifferent Christian witness; forgive us for yielding to fear rather than relying on Your strength to take the risks of discipleship.

Forgive us, dear Jesus, for times we have not looked to You as our Lord, and for allowing the clamoring distractions of the world to become higher priorities than You.  Forgive us for yielding more to the pressures of this world than being transformed by Your reign over our lives.

When we were dead in our sins, God made us alive with Christ.  God forgives us all our sins, having canceled the written code, with its regulations, which was against us and which stood opposed to us; God took it away, nailing it to the cross.

Since we have been raised with Christ, let us set our hearts on things above where Christ is seating at the right hand of God.

Leader: Throughout our journey, let us keep our eyes fixed on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of our faith, Who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, disregarding its shame, and has taken the seat at the right hand of the throne of God.

Congregation: We thank You, Lord Jesus, not only for the privilege of believing in You, but of living for You as well, so that we may also be glorified with You.

Let the Peace of Christ rule in our hearts, since as members of the one body we were called to Peace.  And let us be thankful!

Let the Word of Christ dwell in us richly as we teach and admonish one another with all wisdom.  Whatever we do, therefore, whether in word or in deed, let us do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

11 Worship Lyrics

O Holy Night

Verse 1

O holy night the stars are brightly shining
It is the night of the dear Savior’s birth
Long lay the world in sin and error pining
Till He appeared and the soul felt its worth
A thrill of hope the weary world rejoices
For yonder breaks a new and glorious morn

Chorus 1

Fall on your knees
O hear the angel voices
O night divine
O night when Christ was born
O night O holy night
O night divine

Verse 2

Led by the light of faith serenely beaming
With glowing hearts by His cradle we stand
So led by light of a star sweetly gleaming
Here came the wise men from Orient land
The King of kings lay thus in lowly manger
In all our trials born to be our Friend

Chorus 2

He knows our need
To our weakness is no stranger
Behold your King
Before Him lowly bend
Behold your King
Before Him lowly bend

Verse 3

Truly He taught us to love one another
His law is love and His gospel is peace
Chains shall He break for the slave is our brother
And in His name all oppression shall cease
Sweet hymns of joy in grateful chorus raise we
Let all within us praise His holy name

Chorus 3

Christ is the Lord
O praise His name forever
His power and glory
Evermore proclaim
His power and glory
Evermore proclaim

Give Thanks

Verse 1

Give thanks with a grateful heart
Give thanks to the Holy One
Give thanks because He’s given
Jesus Christ His Son

Chorus 1

And now let the weak say I am strong
Let the poor say I am rich
Because of what the Lord has done for us
And now let the weak say I am strong
Let the poor say I am rich
Because of what the Lord has done for us

Misc 1

(Ending)
Give thanks

Come Thou Fount

Verse 1

Come Thou fount of ev’ry blessing
Tune my heart to sing Thy grace
Streams of mercy never ceasing
Call for songs of loudest praise
Teach me some melodious sonnet
Sung by flaming tongues above
Praise the mount I’m fixed upon it
Mount of Thy redeeming love

Verse 2

Here I raise mine Ebenezer
Hither by Thy help I’m come
And I hope by Thy good pleasure
Safely to arrive at home
Jesus sought me when a stranger
Wand’ring from the fold of God
He to rescue me from danger
Interposed His precious blood

Verse 3

O to grace how great a debtor
Daily I’m constrained to be
Let Thy grace Lord like a fetter
Bind my wand’ring heart to Thee
Prone to wander Lord I feel it
Prone to leave the God I love
Here’s my heart Lord take and seal it
Seal it for Thy courts above

I Surrender All

Verse 1

All to Jesus I surrender
All to Him I freely give
I will ever love and trust Him
In His presence daily live

Chorus 1

I surrender all
I surrender all
All to Thee my blessed Savior
I surrender all

Verse 2

All to Jesus I surrender
Humbly at His feet I bow
Worldly pleasures all forsaken
Take me Jesus take me now

Verse 3

All to Jesus I surrender
Make me Savior wholly Thine
Let me feel the Holy Spirit
Truly know that Thou art mine

Verse 4

All to Jesus I surrender
Lord I give myself to Thee
Fill me with Thy love and power
Let Thy blessing fall on me

Verse 5

All to Jesus I surrender
Now I feel the sacred flame
O the joy of full salvation
Glory glory to His name

What a Friend I have in Jesus

Verse 1

What a friend we have in Jesus
All our sins and griefs to bear
What a privilege to carry
Everything to God in prayer
O what peace we often forfeit
O what needless pain we bear
All because we do not carry
Everything to God in prayer

Verse 2

Have we trials and temptations
Is there trouble anywhere
We should never be discouraged
Take it to the Lord in prayer
Can we find a friend so faithful
Who will all our sorrows share
Jesus knows our every weakness
Take it to the Lord in prayer

Verse 3

Are we weak and heavy laden
Cumbered with a load of care
Precious Savior still our refuge
Take it to the Lord in prayer
Do thy friends despise forsake thee
Take it to the Lord in prayer
In His arms He’ll take and shield thee
Thou wilt find a solace there

Verse 4

Blessed Savior Thou hast promised
Thou wilt all our burdens bear
May we ever Lord be bringing
All to Thee in earnest prayer
Soon in glory bright unclouded
There will be no need for prayer
Rapture praise and endless worship
Will be our sweet portion there

Sermon Notes

Sermon Notes

Surrendering All – James 5

1. God wants us to surrender our R_____  and I_____ in E_____: to be givers in search of a need.

REFLECT: How do you invest your riches?  If your riches were the only witness for your life, what would they communicate to others?  Would your riches communicate the Gospel of Jesus Christ?  How might God be speaking to you to change in this area?

2. As we S_____, God wants us to surrender our Wills – not want W_____ want but what H_____ wants.

REFLECT: In what ways have you been suffering recently?  Have you been guilty of grumbling in your suffering?  How is God calling you to surrender and be patient?  How might God want to use you during this time of suffering?

3.  James teaches us that what we D_____ is a reflection of what we B_____.  This is especially true in how we surrender in W_____.

REFLECT: What does it mean to you to surrender in worship?  Are you willing to give up your own preferences of worship styles for the sake of others?  Is there anyone in the church you need to forgive?  Is there anyone you need to confess to?
